Remarks

Item details
Remarks:
  • Bronze. There were three shallow embossed ridges at the rear and one on the neck guard.
  • The ear cut-out guards were pushed out from the sides of the helmet, not applied with bronze cast pieces.
  • Only one of the rivets holding the cheek guard hinge plates survives on the right hand side.
  • At the front of the helmet, in the centre of the forehead, there is a rectangular hole. This probably held the central prong for the brow-guard, since lost. The small circular hole above this may once have held a ring for the attachment of a crest holder. There is a similar fitment at the rear centre of the helmet, although this still retains the rivet.
