The brim of the helmet has two engraved lines running around it and it is separated from the helmet bowl by a ridge.
Two large rivets are placed either side of the helmet bowl for the attachment of the hinge plates for the cheek guards.
The cheek guards themselves have two cut-outs in front, for the mouth and the eyes. At the base of each guard is a ring, which would have allowed a leather strap to pass through to hold the helmet in place.
It is thought likely that the large helmets of this type would have been lined with a cap made of leather or some material.
