Remarks

Item details
Remarks:
  1. In its present state, the helmet bowl has been considerably restored. The bowl sheet metal shows extensive changes in colour of brown ferric oxide at the left side. The bowl above the right part of the rear up to the crossing 'bridge' over the upper side, was badly damaged. There were holes at fore and rear edges and rips at the ridges of the ornamentation. The right cheek guard hinge, the diagonally positioned neck protection, the left part of the forehead protection (including the left ornament rivet helmet crest mounting), are all missing.
  2. The analysis of the solder alloy gives: 62% of tin and 38% of lead. The helmet metal consists of a copper alloy of approximately 80.5% of copper, 10.2% of zinc, 7.8% of tin, 1.4% of lead as well as traces, (in each case approximately 0,1 percent) of antimony and silver (Analyses: D. Ankner [RGZM]).
