Four gilded copper outer ribs (base W, 132-156mm; mid L, 185-188mm; max W upright, 40-41mm; Th., 1-2mm). There are 15 rivets per rib, six of which are along the sides and three at the base. As is commonly the case, the decoration is by means of lines of punched dots forming triangular shapes along the edges, each with three or four lines of dots. The decoration on each rib is: (1) semicircles, (2) and (4) "hooks" and (3) doubled semicircles. At the base of the ribs there is a device formed from four lobes (giving a flower shape), with a circle at the outer end of each.
The side panels have not survived; those shown on the helmet in the museum are modern replacements, as is the browband.
The crest finial is made of copper and is gilded (Dm., 45mm).
The cheekguards are also made of gilded copper sheet (left: L, 120mm; W, 90mm; Th., 0.6mm/ right: L, 118; W, 89mm; Th., 0.6mm). The guards are pierced all around the edge for the laces that held the leather lining. Decoration consists of punched scales, imbricated.
