When found, the helmet was being used as a cremation urn, containing human bone fragments as well as an iron brooch, two knives, pottery fragments. The brooch was used to date the find.
The helmet has a hemi-spherical skull, fitted with an angular, horizontal neckguard.
There were two cheek-guards, the inner sides of which had iron loops at the bottom for a strap to secure them.
The frontal peak of the helmet is fairly pronounced.
Around the circumference of the helmet, just above the frontal peak, there is a raised ridge. Above this ridge there are three further raised lines running right around the helmet bowl.
