Iron skull piece (the mask having been lost), with silvered bronze additions.
The skull is covered with embossed curled hair. Running around the crown is a chaplet of leaves (laurel?)
The neck guard has some engraving. This may be leaves of some description.
There is a bronze strip soldered to the edge of the neck guard.
Although largely missing, behind the ear protectors there are the remains of small tubes that were used to secure feather plumes.
Behind the left ear there is a punched inscription: III Turma MAXimi QVINTI, while behind the right ear it reads: Turma (uncertain) and Turma MAXimi INGENVI.
