Remarks

Item details
Remarks:
  1. Iron. When found, the helmet was in many pieces. These were restored by the Römische-Germanische Zentralmuseum, Mainz. Much of the helmet, however, is missing.
  2. The hair is arranged as a series of concentric rings of tight curls, with a ribbon/diadem encircling the crown. Two ribbon tails from this hang down at the rear.
  3. The curls also hang down at the sides of the ears on the cheeks.
  4. The neck guard is very narrow and appears to be devoid of any decoration.
  5. Only the eyes and nostrils appear to have been pierced throguh the metal. The lips have been left clossed.
  6. Photos, (c) Luc de Vos
