Remarks

Item details
Remarks:
  1. Bronze.
  2. The face of a young man with curly hair in two rows.
  3. The eyes, nostrils and lips have been pierced through the metal of the mask.
  4. Across the forehead of the figure there is a raised strip of metal, which probably represents a diadem.
  5. Through the hair of the mask, there appears to be traces of a wreath. This may be formed from ivy leaves.
  6. On each side of the mask, level with but beneath the ears, there is a small hole. This would in all probability have held a rivet to attach the strap that kept the mask in the closed position.
  7. There are several holes around the top of the mask. Possibly these may have served to hold a leather lining or similar.
  8. Photos (c) Marco Saliola
