Remarks

Item details
Remarks:
  1. Hemispherical spun helmet bowl of bronze.
  2. The neck guard is almost horizontal.
  3. Although the brow protector is missing, there are holes for the rivets both at the sides and on the front of the helmet bowl. Corrosion traces show where the brow band was fitted.
  4. The hollow plume holder was cast and soldered to the helmet bowl crown.
  5. At the rear of the helmet neck guard and beneath it there is a ring, attached with a bronze rivet. This was used to attach the securing laces of the helmet.
  6. Photos (c) Jasper Oorthuys and Mark Martin.
