Turned up by ploughing, which caused a certain amount of damage to the helmet bowl.
The frontal peak and the two cross-crown reinforcing bars appear to be modern additions.
The helmet is made of copper alloy. It is bronze, with a composition of 5-6% tin. The surface shows some evidence of having been tinned.
The guards for the ears have been forced out from the sides of the helmet bowl. The two cheek guards are secured beneath the chin by means of two sets of holes. That on the left has two circular holes, while the one on the right has one circular hole and a large rectangular opening. It has been suggested that the right guard overlapped the left and was secured by a turning key in the upper hole on the left side. How the lower holes functioned, if at all, is unknown.
The neck guard carried a punched inscription (see below), C (enturia) IIII IVL M I EVC.
The neck guard is steeply angled downwards.
The depth of the helmet is shallower than other specimens of this type and the cheekguards appear to be more curved.
