Name: Imperial Gallic G 3 (Colchester)
Robinson type: Imperial Gallic G
Findspot: Colchester, Period VI, Pit A21 - a small hollow filled with ash and charcoal. Evidently, the helmet fragments were dumped in a sack, following the Roman clear up after the Boudiccan destrucion.
Date: Mid 1st century AD
Now kept: Colchester museum.

Remarks:
  • The drawing shown in H&H is a composite one; there is no proof that the fragments found came from the same helmet.
  • The helmet is made of iron, with the neck guard and hinged cheek pieces edged with bonze binding.
  • The forehead is edged with a repoussé bronze strip.
  • On the crown is riveted a bronze strip, raised in the centre  form an open-ended slot for the mounting of a crest.
