Remarks

Item details
Remarks:
  • Copper alloy skull and cheek guards.
  • The cheek guards have a very clear representation of the human ear at the rear, where they cover the ear recess. This type of helmet would normally have had a face mask of the 'Kalkriese' type, consistent with Cavalry sports, Type "D".
  • Where the rear of the helmet drops down, the angle changes sharply at the extreme end to about 45 deg.
  • A securing ring for the helmet tie cords is riveted to the lower extremity of each cheek guard.
  • Photos (c) Jasper Oorthuys & Mark Martin
