Translation: To the gods of the dead
To Marius Alexander, duplicarius of the Equites Singulares of our Emperors, from the turma of Vitalis, of the Suran people. He lived 40 years, served 26 years. His heirs Aurelius Berulus and Iulius Mar--- made this for he was very worthy.

Comments: Speidel points out that the emendation of d() to d(ecurioni) cannot be right as the trooper served under the decurion Vitalis. Moreover, a decurion owned three horses, while Alexander is depicted with two which makes him a duplicarius. Also noteworthy is the young age at enlistment, fourteen.
