Is mentioned only in the faked letter of Emperor Valerian to the procurator of Syria, Hist. aug. Claud. 14, 2: Claudium … tribunum Martiae quintae legioni fortissimae dedimus. With the obscurity of this source, it is questionable if a legion with this name ever existed. But we also cannot claim that the existence of such a legion is impossible at the discussed time; compare the IIII Martia, no. XLIII still existing in the 5th century.
