In the time of Not. or. XXXV, Legio IIII Parthica belonged to the garrison of Osrhoene; (v.24 praefectus legionis quartae Parthicae Circesio). It is quite probable that the legion was stationed in this province and at this place (see above, III Parthica) from its establishment, which took place, in all probability, under Diocletian. It remained there into the Byzantine period; under the emperor Mauricius (582-602) it is mentioned by Theophylaktos Simokatta II 6.9 p.77 (Bonn). At that point the legion was stationed in Beroea.
