At the time of the Notitia (Not. Occ. V 108 =  258) = II Iulia (Not. occ. VII 60) Leg. II Iulia Alpina was a pseudocomitatensis somewhere in Illyricum. Over the years, she was separated from her two sister-legions, who remained in Italy. Together with I and III, who have the same nickname, she originally belonged to the garrison of the Alps province of the Dioceses Italy; see also I Iul. Alpina nr. III (col.1404f).
