Leg. II Isaura was created at the latest under Diocletian, perhaps already by Probus (see also col.1348). At the time of the Notitia, she was still fulfilling her original assignment: to protect the territory, quae sunt Isauriae vicinae (Hist. Aug. Probi 17, 1) against raids from the wild mountain people. Together with her sister-legion III Isaura, she appears (Not. Or. XXIX 7) as garrison of sub dispositione … comites rei militaris rei militaris per Isauriam et praesidis.
